Potters and ceramicists

Alphington Community Centre,

The Pottery is well equipped and has six wheels for throwing.  Sessions for potters and ceramicists on Monday morning, Monday evening, Thursday evening and Saturday morning, approximately £7.50 a session. There are no taught sessions.

Drawing and painting

A small group of friendly artists of all abilities get together on a Thursday morning. “We pick up tips from each other and enjoy a very relaxed session.   We meet from 10.00 am to 12.30. The very reasonable cost is £5.00 per session. We do not have to pay if we do not attend! Oil or acrylic painting at the Council Chamber, Matthews Hall with tutor Matt Culmer

  • Wednesday afternoons 2-4 – £170 per 10-week term. 
  • This course is suitable for those with experience of drawing or painting and who wish to develop their skills. Use of various brush techniques, knife work, glazing etc will be covered.
  • Use of colour, tone and texture will also be covered. The emphasis is on one-to-one tuition to give guidance throughout a piece of work. Technical advice will also be given when needed.
  • The emphasis of the course will be on oil or acrylic painting. However, students can work in other mediums if they wish. A variety of subject matter will be used according to students’ wishes.  For example, landscape, seascapes, still life, flowers, figure drawing, semi-abstract work.  Demonstrations of different techniques will be given when appropriate.
